Use your computer’s keyboard to delete pages in your OpenOffice Writer document.
If you find that your OpenOffice Writer document contains an area of blank space, you can eliminate pages that you do not wish to delete without being able to determine where the page starts and ends.
Using the „Nonprinting Characters“ Utility
Step 1
Open OpenOffice Writer. Open documents through clicking „File“ and „Open“. Select the document you want to open then click „Open“.
Step 2
Click „View“ and „Nonprinting Characters„. The view of your document will change and you’ll be able to see a sequence of codes that indicate breaks in the page and other formatting.
Step 3
Find your reverse „P“ symbol, which signifies a page break at the bottom of the paragraph or page before the blank or any other unneeded page you wish to remove. Make sure to highlight the symbol using your mouse.
Step 4
Use“Backspace“ or the „Backspace“ or „Delete“ key on your keyboard to erase the symbol, and also remove your page’s break.
Step 5
Click“Delete“ repeatedly „Delete“ key repeatedly to eliminate any blank lines that might be in the space prior to the next paragraph page. Your document will show its lines reshaping.
Step 6
Select „View“ and „Nonprinting Characters“ to shut off the program.
Using the „Web Layout/Online Layout“ View
Step 1
Open OpenOffice Writer. Open the document using „File“ and „Open“. Locate your document then click „Open“.
Step 2
Click „View“ and „Online Layout“ or „Web Layout“. The view of your document will change, and you’ll be able to view the document displayed in a web-based view.
Step 3
Start at the top of the page that you wish to erase. Hit“Delete“ to delete the page „Delete“ key to remove the page. It is possible to hit“Delete“ repeatedly „Delete“ key repeatedly to eliminate blank lines prior to your next sentence or even page. Your document will show its lines being rearranged.
Step 4
Select „View“ and „Print Layout“ for a return to the default view in OpenOffice Writer.
Using the „CTRL“ and „End“ Key Sequence
Step 1
Open OpenOffice Writer. Open documents through clicking „File“ and „Open“. Locate your document by clicking „Open“.
Step 2
Use your „CTRL“ and „End“ keys together to navigate to the end in your file. This method is useful if you want you want to eliminate empty pages from the bottom the document.
Step 3
Use“Backspace“ or the „Backspace“ key to delete the page. You may need to hit“Backspace“ repeatedly to delete the page „Backspace“ key repeatedly to take out multiple blank pages towards close of the document.
